Larry James, a former Anglican priest, will lead an exploration of the impulse of humans to attain or create paradise: everything from transcendent afterlife scenarios to idealistic earthly communities, both religious and secular.

Humanism with Heart is a discussion and service group that is guided by the principles of Humanism, a progressive philosophy of life that, without supernaturalism, encourages us to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that are guided by reason, inspired by compassion, and informed by experience. Humanism and Unitarian Universalism (UU) share a long history, with several UU ministers having helped write the three iterations of the Humanist Manifesto. Come and explore with others the full diversity of today’s modern Humanism, which encompasses religious, secular, and spiritual perspectives.

Meetings are held the first and third Thursdays of each month at 7 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Winston-Salem at 4055 Robinhood Drive. This group is sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Winston-Salem, is free to attend, and is open to the public. Please contact humanism@uufws.org for more information or to be added to our Email list.
