Mignon Dobbins

Music Director

Mignon Dobbins oversees our music program and has directed our outstanding choir for over a decade.  A music educator since 1989, Mignon holds a master’s degree in music education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  She teaches choral music at Reagan High School and directs the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center Chorale.  She sang with the Bel Canto Company for 15 years and occasionally freelances as music director for area community theaters.

Most of Mignon’s family members are music educators and/or performers.  About her work, she says, “I like nothing better than researching, preparing, and performing challenging, thought-provoking music to enhance the worship or meditative experience.  I also value the relationships that develop and are strengthened through choral music: the emotional connectedness, the nonverbal communication, the sense of trust, the thrill of achievement, and the inspiration of poetry and music.”  People who attend Sunday worship services are regularly impressed by the quality of music she elicits from our choir, as well as her own exceptional voice.
